Hi, Walt! Gee, some days I scold myself, "If you don't get to the blog, you won't catch up to Walt!" Today I walked while you rode. It was a #10 day weatherwise, so I walked my five miles along Fire Island; took the water taxi back which thrills me cause I don't own a motorboat. It's early in the season, and I was the sole passenger so I told the driver to go real fast!! Glad to hear that you've mailed some of your 'weight' ahead! That's my biggest concern Walt... the 70# of gear you're hauling! Know you're thought of daily!!

Hi Walt,

Grace and I read your blogs to date. Sounds like you're having a great trip. Like your photos and interested that you've met a number of friendly folks and had a few good meals.

I noticed that you didn't pack a small sketchbook. What would Nikki say?

Happy cycling,

John and Grace Timberlake

Hi Walt, it's Joan. Mary helped out with the anonymous posting routine, which makes this easier.
Have been following all of your travels and was just delighted with your accounts of the fine dining you found. The menus were mouthwatering. Glad you are finding what we consider one of the basic food groups...milkshakes. Here in SD we just say "shake" or "malt" Can hardly wait for you to experience our Zesto shop, the best malts and shakes on the planet.
Your encounters with bicyclists, locals and and other travelers sound like fun. I think you are a person who never met a stranger.

Good luck and good travels.

Hey Walt, this is Steve Rocklage, the kayaker you met along the Lochsa. Well, it is now Tuesdayand I figure you are probably getting close to that hot spring I turned you on to. Hopefully you were able to find it alright and give those muscles some nice toasty therapy. Anyway, just wanted to say hello, hope everything is going great! Cheers!

I am Court P's sister (the younger one, not the one who went to GS). Court sent me your blog address this morning and I have just read all of your entries.
My husband and I are bikers (read: Rail Trail enthusiasts) and have traveled many miles in various states... but not on roads. Keep safe and keep writing. It is fun to read your blog.
